Bill Gates Defends Free Speech — Unless It Hurts His Investments
Bill Gates took a shot at free speech, the First Amendment, and everyone who questions vaccines and vaccine safety in a CNBC interview earlier this month.
“We should have free speech, but if you’re inciting violence, if you’re causing people not to take vaccines, where are those boundaries that even the U.S. should have rules? And then if you have rules, what is it?” Gates asked on CNBC’s “Make It.”
Gates made similar remarks this month in an interview with CNET, during which he directly targeted the First Amendment:
The US is a tough one because we have the notion of the First Amendment and what are the exceptions like yelling ‘fire’ in a theater. … I do think over time … most of the time you’re online you’re going to want to be in an environment where the people are truly identified … instead of just people saying whatever they want.
...He lamented his “naivete, that when we made information available, that people would want correct information.”
Sick. Twisted tyrants.

The Coming Strangulation of Free Speech
It’s the First Amendment for a reason: free speech is a fundamental prerequisite for liberal democracy. But The Guardian, with logic that Stalin would have appreciated, insists the concern over free speech has been “concocted” by the Right. This is one example of many that shows the assault on free speech today primarily comes from the very people — the legacy media, academia, and progressives — who once championed unencumbered dialogue.
Ultimately, the issue goes well beyond partisan politics. Liberalism and democracy without free speech is little more than a sham. The pressure now threatens to create a media and speech culture more akin to the People’s Republic of China than what the American Founders bequeathed to us.

Historically, freedom of speech has been a left-wing cause. Noam Chomsky, one of the intellectual pioneers of left-wing thought was always a strong defender of free speech famously saying :
If we don't believe in free expression for people we despise, we don't believe in it at all.
However, as the Democratic Party moves farther and farther away from traditional left-wing values and closer toward authoritarian neo-cons such as Dick Cheney they have abandoned this traditional left-wing principle for the establishment view that America needs more censorship to police so-called “misinformation".
The Democrats not only defended the intelligence agencies’ censorship of social media but actively tried to put Matt Taibbi in prison for revealing this fact...
Kamala Harris’s Vice President Tim Walz said “There is no guarantee of free speech on misinformation or hate speech” even though they are clearly both protected by the First Amendment.
2016 Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton took this a step farther and said that Americans who spread so-called Russian disinformation should be “civilly, or even in some cases criminally charged”. Clinton is quick to call anyone that calls out her bloodthirsty warmongering bullshit a foreign agent. In 2019 she claimed without evidence that Jill Stein was a “Russian asset” and implied the same about then-presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard.
Free speech, just like war and peace is another issue where the democrats have taken the neocon establishment line and the Republicans despite claiming otherwise are not better.

Supreme Court Unleashes Censors and Betrays Democracy
The court ruled in the case of Murthy v. Missouri, a lawsuit brought by individuals censored on social media thanks to federal threats and machinations. Court decisions last year vividly chronicled a byzantine litany of anti–free speech interventions by multiple federal agencies and the White House. On July 4, 2023, federal judge Terry Doughty condemned the Biden administration for potentially “the most massive attack against free speech in United States history.” A federal appeals court imposed injunctions on federal officials to prohibit them from acting “to coerce or significantly encourage social-media companies to remove, delete, suppress, or reduce … posted social-media content containing protected free speech.”
Rather than swine groveling in the muck, the Supreme Court instead disposed of this landmark case on a quibble, putting their legal pinkies up in the air like a white-wine drinker at a cocktail reception. The court ruled that the plaintiffs — including two state governments and eminent scientists banned from social media — did not have “standing” because they had not proven to negligent justices (how many pages in the files did they actually read?) that federal intervention and string-pulling injured them.
Bizarrely, the court denied standing even after conceding that it “may be true” that social-media platforms “continue to suppress [plaintiffs] speech according to policies initially adopted under Government pressure.”
... Maybe the outcome was a foregone conclusion when Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson blathered that “my biggest concern” is “the First Amendment hamstringing the government in significant ways in the most important time periods"...
But the whole point of the Bill of Rights is to hamstring would-be federal tyrants.
It is a sad day when Supreme Court justices behave like shiftless members of Congress who vote for a thousand-page bill that they never bothered to read. In lieu of constitutional rights and “government under the law,” the Supreme Court tells Americans they only deserve “plausible deniability” for government crimes.
